The tailstock differs considerably from the Yeomans design because it is movable and also has no moving parts except for the clamp bolt. It also can be made so that it is easily removable in case some workpiece needs extra space. We use a Morse taper socket that is grouted in place after it has been aligned with the spindle. Some kind of a bar should be welded to the rear of the socket to keep it from turning inside the grout. Notice the slots cast into the headstock so that a Morse taper tool can be extracted by using the common wedge shaped extraction tool.

A handwheel should be fitted over the drive nut.
